Each longbow kit contains: Leather wrap for the handle, pre-drilled horn blanks for the nocks and arrow plate, a string and a quality stave blank, made from laminations of Hickory and Lemon-Wood. The Hickory back performs extremely well under tension and forms the equivalent of the pale outer growth ring of a Yew stave, the Lemon-Wood forms the belly of the bow and performs extremely well under compression, it is the equivalent of the darker hart wood of Yew. These stave provide the accepted modern equivalent of the rare English Yew stave, giving comparable and reliable performance in the making and shooting of a longbow.  New.
